August 9-10 - Level 1 Certified Stormwater Operator

The FSA SW Operator Level 1 Class is designed primarily for field maintenance personnel such as crew leaders, spray technicians, heavy equipment operators and street sweepers, and road stabilization crews. It covers such topics as stormwater regulations and the need for stormwater management; non-structural/structural BMP’s; maintenance activities, standards and work orders; equipment types and uses; safety, confined spaces and hazardous materials; and, customer service.

August 23-24 - Level 2 Certified Stormwater Operator

The FSA SW Operator Level 2 Class is designed primarily for field supervisory staff in stormwater maintenance. The curriculum includes leadership skills and communication, proper design of stormwater management systems, the national flood insurance program and the Community Rating System, permitting requirements, budgeting and stormwater utility fees.

Staff that successfully complete either class will fulfill FDEP’s training/refresher training requirements of your MS4 permit for appropriate stormwater management personnel in the following areas:

  • Erosion and Sedimentation Control
  • Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination
  • Spill Prevention and Remediation
  • Good Housekeeping Practices
  • High Risk Facilities

Successful completion results in a Stormwater Operator Certification from FSA. Also, the class has been pre-approved to provide six parallel Continuing Education Credits (CECs) for Certified Floodplain Managers.
